Purim: G-d's Timeless Victory – From Haman to Khamenei
This joyous festival of Purim brings us into the dramatic story of Megillat Esther, where the Jewish people faced annihilation at the hands of the wicked Haman (booooo), a high-ranking official in the Persian Empire. Haman, driven by hatred and pride, plotted to destroy all Jews—from young to old, women and children—in a single day (Esther 3:13). Yet, through the courage of Queen Esther, the wisdom and faithfulness of Mordecai, and the hidden hand of G-d orchestrating everything behind the scenes, Haman's scheme backfired in the most spectacular way that I am surprised no more movies have been made on this story. Truly a blockbuster masterpiece. Haman ended up hanged on the very gallows he built for Mordecai, and the Jews were granted the right to defend themselves, turning mourning into celebration (Esther 9:22).
In this account we see a profound truth: G-d does not abandon His people. Though His name is never mentioned in the Megillah, His providence is evident on every page if you look closely; from Esther's rise to the throne to the king's night of insomnia that ultimately exposed Haman's plot. Purim reminds us that even in the face of existential threats, G-d fights for His people, delivering freedom from bondage and turning the tables on oppressors.
The story of Purim is not a one-off event, it's a living pattern throughout Biblical history and modern history. Just look at the current events unfolding in our world. In a stunning parallel to Haman's downfall, Iran's Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei—often seen as a modern-day Haman for his regime's relentless threats against Israel and support for terrorist groups—was eliminated in a joint US-Israeli strike during, you guessed it, Purim! Khamenei, who for decades called for Israel's destruction and funded proxies like Hamas and Hezbollah, met a swift end, echoing Haman's sudden demise. Celebrations erupted in Israel and among freedom-loving people worldwide, including Iranians who celebrated by dancing in the streets and toppling his statues. This event underscores that G-d is the same yesterday, today, and forever (Hebrews 13:8). He who thwarted Haman continues to expose and dismantle those who rise against His chosen people, Israel. This current event also dispels the false narrative that the State of Israel is not Biblical Israel; G-d seems to think otherwise given His actions here in this Purim miracle.
Scripture reminds us: "The L-rd will fight for you; you need only to be still" (Exodus 14:14). Time and again, from Pharaoh to Hitler to modern tyrants, enemies of Israel have fallen, all by the hand of G-d working through people who are willing to be used by Him. As disciples of Yeshua, we see this divine protection extending through the New Covenant. Yeshua Himself affirmed Israel's enduring role: "Salvation is from the Jews" (John 4:22), and Paul warned Gentiles not to boast against the natural branches (Romans 11:18). It's wise to stand with Israel, for G-d declares: "I will bless those who bless you, and whoever curses you I will curse" (Genesis 12:3; Numbers 24:9). To oppose Israel is to oppose the Almighty, inviting an eventual downfall, while aligning with her invites blessing.
In Messiah Yeshua, this protection extends to all disciples. He is the ultimate Deliverer, setting us free from sin's bondage: "So if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed" (John 8:36). Just as Purim celebrates physical deliverance, Yeshua offers spiritual chofesh—true freedom—from fear, hatred, oppression and the damaging effects of sin. Trust His unchanging nature. Celebrate His Purim victories in your lives, and live in the freedom He provides. The story of Haman and Khamenei proves: G-d's justice prevails, and His people endure! Let’s dance and eat!

Core Intention for the Week
This week, move from fear or bondage to enemies (personal or global) to active freedom in G-d's deliverance. Like Purim's turnaround, trust that G-d fights for Israel and you, freeing you to live boldly.
Guiding Question: Where am I held captive by fear of opposition, and how can trusting G-d's protection set me free?
Maintain a small notebook or notes app for daily reflections. Each day includes:
Morning Kavanah (Intention)
Action Practice
Evening Cheshbon HaNefesh (Soul Accounting)
Morning Kavanah (Every Day)
Upon waking, recite slowly (out loud if possible):
“Today, I embrace the chofesh You provide, L-rd. I trust You to fight my battles, as You did for Esther and Israel.”
Pause for one full breath, imagining Haman's gallows turned to victory, and Khamenei's fall as G-d's hand at work.
Daily Action Practices
Day 1 – Awareness: Identifying Bondage
Practice: List 2-3 areas where fear of opposition (to faith, Israel, or personal calling) holds you back. Thank G-d for His promise in Genesis 12:3.
Reflection Prompt: How does seeing G-d's hand in Khamenei's elimination build my trust?
Day 2 – Trust in Deliverance
Practice: Pray over a current "threat" (news about Israel or personal challenge), declaring Exodus 14:14 aloud. Release control to G-d.
Reflection Prompt: What shifted when I chose stillness over striving?
Day 3 – Celebrating Freedom
Practice: Read a Purim summary or Esther 9, then share a positive story about Israel's resilience (e.g., via social media or conversation).
Reflection Prompt: How does celebrating past victories free me from present fears?
Day 4 – Standing with Israel
Practice: Bless Israel in prayer (Numbers 6:24-26), and take one action to support her (e.g., learn about a current event, donate, or advocate).
Reflection Prompt: In what way did aligning with G-d's people bring personal chofesh?
Day 5 – Overcoming Opposition
Practice: When doubt or anti-Israel sentiment arises (in self or others), counter with Hebrews 13:8: "G-d is unchanging—He fights for us."
Reflection Prompt: How did affirming G-d's constancy dispel bondage?
Day 6 – Communal Freedom
Practice: Encourage someone facing oppression with the Purim story or Khamenei's downfall as proof of G-d's justice.
Reflection Prompt: How does extending freedom to others reinforce my own?
Day 7 – Renewal of Freedom
Practice: Review the week's notes. Commit one area of bondage to G-d's deliverance. Speak: "I renew my chofesh in You, L-rd—fight for me as You do for Israel."
Reflection Prompt: Where did I experience G-d's freeing presence most this week?
Repeat this practice and watch how chofesh transforms fear into faith, echoing Purim's joy in every generation.
